Equitment list and Scedule

I will be shooting in the day as it will be good natural lighting and will allow me to do a range of stuff that may have not been seen if i had done it in the dark.  They are several different pieces of equipment and props that I will need for the

Location Scouting

There are many considerations that I need to take when thinking about the location for the short film. The location of the film is important as it can show much more than we think including the social status and genre which is trying to be conveyed.  My short film is based on knife crime, this means that I would like the location to be set in a urban environment. I would like there to be high rise or council house building which are rough looking. I would like to find an area which is grubby and rough looking. This will allow me to correctly convey my story line .  I have shot two locations to see what will be best and what works most with my story line and the stills that I will have to capture. I have chosen to shot a majority of the outdoor shots in Bracknell and have selected two spots to shoot at. For the inside shots I will be using a friends kitchen which I think will have the right look for the stills and the story.  Location 1 -...

Character profiles and Casting

There are several characters in the short film. One of the key characters will be a narrator which will speak over the top of the short film along with the main character in the frames. I have thought about what I would like to see from each character and the characteristics of them.  Narrator : I would like the narrator to sound between 25-30. This is as they are looking back on there life. They will speak with a chavy accent and will not be using proper English. They will be speaking at a medium pace and calmly. When the story intensifies to where there is violence in the scene, we see there becomes more aggression and his voice raises.  BOY 1:  GIRL 1:  EXTRAS: There will be many extras in the short film. As there is a gang there will be two groups who do not say anything in the scene but are needed to ensure the groups look big enough and we have enough

Short Film Analysis

Short Film Analysis I am going to be analysing two short stories that have a relevance to mine. I have searched two short films that involve knife crime and typically that of teenage knife crime. Both of the stories have a moral to the story to all of the audience which I would like to influence my work.  Film One - 'One life, Many victims' -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvC884FdpqM (5 mins) PLOT- The film begins with the main character named Mark. The only noise able to be heard is his music in his headphones. It then leads to his mum walking in, she says that she is going out. She says "Be safe and don't come home too late". He then sits down on his bed and we see a text appear on his phone, this clip fills the frame which allows us to read sections of the text. whilst he is on the phone we can only hear the light music he is listening too, this makes it more emotive. He goes on facebook and we can see that he sees someone is going t...

Inital Idea and Analysis of Genre

Initial Idea I would like to base my initial idea around teaching moral, this will be based at a teenage audience. I would like the storyline to be based around teenage knife crime in the UK and the consequence that carry one has on you and your future,  this idea was inspired by the short film Deep It. I would like the moral of the story to be released at the end with a key message being conveyed. I would like sections of the story to be mixed up the end and start to begin the same, this is so that the audience are hooked on the storyline from the beginning. I will also do this so that the key message is the first and last thing presented. I would also like to have sections of the film where the clip is paused and the speaker thoughts in their head are heard, this will allow the audience to also evaluate his decisions. I would like to have minimal actors but extras to make the scenes look realistic. I would like to use the characters cos...
